EOS-3

Canon developed the EOS-3 with the working photographer in mind. Once again, existing

standards in autofocus SLR technology were challenged and surpassed. The end result is a camera

that makes it easier and faster to take high quality pictures.

The world’s first 45-point area AF. Don’t be put

off by the giant ellipse in the centre of the viewfinder

with its collection of an incredible forty-five focusing

points. They’ll make it much

simpler and easier for you to

capture off-centre and

moving subjects in sharp

focus. This can be achieved automatically, manually or

eye-controlled.

Multiple metering options. Because the EOS-3

has so many focusing points, it also has 21 evaluative

metering zones for even greater accuracy. When you’re

faced with more difficult or unusual lighting conditions

make use of the EOS-3’s wide range of metering modes.

Precise exposure monitoring can be achieved with

features such as Partial metering, Spot metering, Centre-

weighted average metering and Multi-spot metering.

High speed eye controlled focus. Just look

anywhere within the EOS-3’s 45-point area AF and the

subject is immediately in focus. The camera’s internal 32-

bit microcomputer responds to your eye movements in

real time, making this the fastest and most accurate usage

of eye-controlled focus possible. Alternatively, automatic

and manual control are both possible.

Speedy internal film transport system. When

combining the EOS-3 with the Power Drive Booster PB-

E2 and the Ni-MH pack NP-E2 it’s possible to track

moving subjects at an unbelievable 7 frames per second.

The PB-E2 has its own shutter button, main dial and FE

lock button for vertical shots.

E-TTL wireless autoflash. For unbeatable results

using flash photography combine the EOS-3 with the

Speedlite 550EX. It means you can take advantage of

Canon’s unique E-TTL autoflash system for consistently

natural looking photography. FE lock and high-speed

synchronization are also standard Canon Speedlite

features that enable unparalleled results even with the

most difficult of shooting conditions. With E-TTL

wireless autoflash you can set flash ratios for two slave

groups of 550EX Speedlites. Using this system you can

increase the quality of your flash photography to that of

large studio strobes.
